Old truck up-date

Last week I finally decided to tackle the drippy power steering pump on the '77. Billy had told me he thought it was a leaky hose, so I got new hoses and replaced them, no luck. Still drippy. I had a local mechanic peep it out and he decided that he could see where it was coming from and it was from the pulley shaft.

I made a quick trip to the local parts house and scored a refurbished pump for $50 and put it in over the course of a few hours last saturday. It took a little longer than i had expected though because the pump didn't fit with the bracket…so I had to cut up the bracket a little. It still has 2 solid mounting points and it worked out like a dream. Im going to weld the tab ( that had to be removed) back on in its new location once i put a few more miles on it and I'm sure everything is sitting where it wants to sit.

Now I just have to go clean up my workbench!

A giant treasure trove of evidence of a misspent youth.

I had a pretty huge collection of punk rock show flyers when i was a kid. I had them pasted all over my room when i was living at home with my parents and one day came home to find out that my mom had accidentally read one of the flyers and suddenly realized i was in league with the devil.

She tore them all off the walls and left them in a pile on my bed, to show me. well she showed me I guess. I saved them and put them in a big folder and hid them.

Fast forward to last year when i am digging around in my dads attic and find a big box full of old shit i left at his house when I moved out so long ago. iIn the box was my folder filled with my flyers. unmolested and unseen for almost 3 decades.

I finally decided to scan this mess and show off some of the fun things I did as a kid that led to me being the person i am today...good or bad, better or worse.

Had a visit this friday from my brother from another

Hapa, actually IS prapa. you know this.

Stormtrooper of doom

This guy, with the smoothe face

My family loves him too, so he must be okay!

My best buddy Davey was in town for some type of shenanigans, and decided to stay the night and get some nice diner and tell some stories... the usual kind of stuff. We had a great diner at Buona Forchetta down in Golden Hills and then watched the remake of Red Dawn, which was pretty epic. Of course its about American and blowing shit up and 20 something chicks with machine guns... kindda gotta love it. you know how it goes. Anyhow, he's back on the road so if you see him trooping along on the highway, give him a wave and a smile and if you're a 20 something chick ( who may or may not have a machine gun) bust out with a little boob, or something sweet.

Love you brother!

Finally found a home

I've had this goofy foot pedal for about 15 years and it's been hanging in the garage on the wall waiting for the right car to call home. Well it finally found that home. . .

Living the dream, all day every day!

I know a bunch of moms but these two are the most important to me.

One made me and the other one made my son. It doesn't get much better for me. I love these ladies and everything they've done for me all along the way.

This is one of the tools of the trade in my new hobby, metal detecting . . .

I love urban archeology and finding things. Especially things that people have discarded or lost. The idea that something has been buried under a 3 inch layer of sand and might have been there for a very long time and never noticed is a rush for me and the idea that there are thousands of things like this on beaches and in parks and areas where people gather and drop shit amazes me.

So this is a wet sand beach scoop, and I'll post pictures of whatever I find on here when I get a chance to take it to the beach some weekend coming up.

I'm sure everyone will be waiting with baited breath!

I had a pretty busy weekend this week .

As some of you may know , metal detecting is my new exciting hobby and we went to the beach this weekend to let Amy frolic in the sun and me and Vaughn could go searching for treasure . . . well I found a penny and 2 bottle caps . No big deal though as it was fun to wander around on the beach and enjoy my town .

After we all got home I decided to tear into a project I've been putting off for a while now . New floor in the motorhome .

It had been redone a long time ago in some nasty carpet and some broken tiles in the " kitchen " by a former owner . I ripped it all out and got started , here's how it turned out . Not too bad for my first time doing a floor all by myself .

Now the old girl is ready for the summer and we're ready for a little camping !

Vaughn is finally riding his " big boy " bike . . .

He's been on his Strider for a few years now and this last weekend we decided to bust out the fancy pedal wheel bike . As it turns out , it only took him 3 tries before he took off like a bullet .

Needless to say he was really excited and now he wont get off it . He practices in the house and in the driveway , he can't get enough . Next big step will be the skateboard , but we're busy with the bike for now .

Drunk , drunker , most drunk

Here's to a great new year !

These photos are from 1958 and are of my mom and dad and a few of their friends just after christmas time . Some things change and some things stay the same . . .

First day of the new year went something like this .

We were in bed pretty early lastnight , but still managed to watch the new year come in at midnight . We decided to go to the park and take a brisk nature walk .

After donning appropriately ridiculous outfits , my family took off from the fountain and headed east over the pedestrian bridge into the cactus garden .

Saw this awesome acid trip of a cactus .

Found an awesome little fairy cave

Amy meditated on a rock with Vaughn

And we found a really neat old tree that was hollow , so of course we got inside it . What else would you do . . .

then we went to the model train museum which is always rad . These little dioramas are amazing . I could sit here and trip out on them all day .

Overall , 2012 was pretty chill . Made a few new friends here & there , and lost a few . Did some really cool shit and did some lame shit too . . . I don't generally just take what life gives me and accept it regardless of whether I like it or not . I can't say that this coming year will be better or worse because I make my life into what I want it to be . I'm looking forward to another amazing year of moments to be a great father and be an amazing husband , and as good of a friend to the ones I love that I can possibly be . Make more art , play my guitar a little more often , take the time to really see and enjoy the people and things I surround myself with .

The really simple shit is what makes living really count . I hope if you read this that you had a great year last year and you go on to have a great year this year as well.
